Injuries Plague the Impact

Glendale, AZTwo-Thousand Sixteen has been an achilles heal or achilles kneel for the Arizona Impact roster.

In the first part of the year, it first saw defender Carlos Delgado out with a knee injury that later required surgery with a 12 month recovery timeline.

A few months later, midfielder Eddie Hertsenberg was out with a knee injury that also required surgery with an 8-10 month recovery time.

And on September 1st the heart and sole of the Arizona Impact captain Ami Hanan received surgery on his knee that will have a 4-6 week recovery time and see him missing the entire summer season.

“I can’t wait to be back to play with no pain and be available to do any movement I want, can’t wait to be back to the real Ami”, says Hanan.

“Ami’s confidence on the ball has been noticeably low over the past couple of months.  We could tell his knee was getting worse but there’s no doubt when our Captain recovers he’ll be a force to reckon with again”, states owner of the Impact Patrick Fisher.  “It’s no doubt the Select Physical Therapy crew will get Ami back to top playing condition, just as they have with defender Matt Marcum, come the winter Premier Arena Soccer League season in December”, says Fisher.

Even though newcomer Dylan Hartman scored a hat-trick in his debut for the Impact, the team was clearly missing their captain in Ontario, CA this past weekend.  A match against the Major Arena Soccer League’s Ontario Fury Reserve squad started off the summer indoor season posting a 9-8 loss.

Ami says, “I’ll follow whatever the Doctor will tell me to do.  He knows how bad I want to go back to play.  When I wake up [from surgery] the first question I ask him was when I can come back to play, he told me I’m crazy but I’ll be stronger and better!
